World Irish Aid Awards Ceremony
by Mr Ryan Three boys from our student council were in Limerick on Wednesday 23 May for the regional finals of the World Irish Aid Awards. Donal Ryan, Daniel Moloney and Alex Dunne joined Mrs Laffey and I in the Lime Tree Theatre in Mary Immaculate College. We were one of 15 schools who got to the final for our Irish Aid project titled "Education For All The World's Children". Marcus Horan, recently retired Munster rugby player, was the special guest and he spoke to the school and their teachers. He said that he was very impressed with the high quality of work on display. He praised the schools for spreading the word about the work of Irish Aid and he spoke of his pride in being Irish and how, even though we are struggling financially, we still look out for others in the world around us. Three schools were chosen for the national finals in Dublin. We weren't chosen but we are very proud to have got so far, receiving a lovely plaque for the school wall. More importantly, we are doing our bit to spread the word of how important it is that all countries work together to make sure that all primary aged children go to school.
