U11s Reach County Final with Three Victories in Clerihan Blitz

16th Oct 2013

by Paddy Moloney  We headed out to Clerihan to play the u11 Roinn B football blitz on Tuesday morning.  The weather was excellent and playing fields superb, so first up for our boys was the challenge of Grange National School.   We played with the wind in the first half and led by 1 – 1 to a Grange point.  We dominated possession in the middle of the field and scored another great goal to run out winners on a final score-line of Cashel 2 -1 to Grange – 1.  We had super displays from Ben White, Ethan Gayson Molloy, Andrew Burke and Cathal Quinn. After a quick turn-around we were drawn to play the hosts Clerihan.  After a ding dong 10 minutes we retired with a lead of 2 – 1 to no score in the 2nd half.  Clerihan put us under huge pressure but the backs held out for us to win our 2nd match 3 -2 to 1 point.  Eoghan Murphy, Herman O’Donoghue, Alex Dunne, Ross Minogue and our Spanish import, Hermes Benito Andres, all played vital parts. Last up for the boys on this busy morning was Ballylooby National School where we had to beat them to advance to another County Final.  The boys were very tense in the 1st half and we were a goal behind at half time, but in the 2nd half the boys showed true grit and determination to win on a final score of Cashel 2 – 2, Ballylooby 1 – 0.  Here Christopher Corbally Maher, Ross Whelan, Evan Moloney, Corey Hynes all played major parts to qualify for another u11 County Football Final after Halloween.
