U11 Roinn 'B1' Gaelic Football
by Mrs Butler and the boys in Rang 4 U11 Roinn B1 Blitz On a cold Monday morning, the 14th of November, a group of boys were all excited about the blitz. They were going to be playing up in Leahy Park. It was to start at 10am and finish around 1pm. The teams were made up of boys from 4th and 5th class, resulting in us having 13 boys. The Team: James Laffey (Captain), Jack Ryan (Camas), David Ryan, Eoghan Murphy, Martins Upenieks, Mikey Delaney, Thomas Delaney, Dawid Wojcik, Adam Shortt, Mantvis Vasiliauskas, Adam Browne Corbett, Jake Cotter and Dylan O Dwyer. The boys had four tough matches ahead of them, competing against boys from the Gaelscoil Durlas, Grange , Gaelscoil Cluain Meala and Templemore. Cashel v Gaelscoil Durlas (B) 3-3 to 1-3 Thomas Delaney was on form for this match and scored our three goals from different angles of the field. There was no stopping him when he got the ball. Dawid Wojcik got a great point from out the field along with Jack Ryan (Camas) and Mikey Delaney. James Laffey held the title of captain with great pride and showed everyone why he deserved to be captain, running after every ball and passing it when he could to the other boys. Cashel v Grange 5-3 to 2-0 A fantastic game played by the boys with Jack Ryan (Camas) on fire every time he touched the ball scoring 4 out of the 5 goals. Eoghan Murphy got the last goal for the team fighting his way through the opposition and the mud to shoot the ball in the net. Eoghan and Jack went on to get a point each and Mantvis Vasiliauskas joined them on the scoring sheet. Dylan O Dwyer did some great tackling for the ball, not afraid of getting dirty! Cashel v Templemore 3-1 to 1-1 This was a tough game. The boys at this stage were heading into their third match without a break, whereas it was only Templemore’s second game so they were fresher. This didn’t stop our boys though! They went in with only one thing on their minds and that was to win. Jake Cotter was all over the field getting really involved. He had some great block downs and passes. David Ryan concentrated on taking his steps when he got the ball, allowing the ball to travel a great distance when he kicked it down the field. Martins Upenieks had a really tough job in this game stopping some dangerous balls being kicked at him and showing some great bravery and talent between the posts. Cashel v Gaelscoil Cluain Meala 4-5 to 0-1 After having a break from the field, all the boys were fresh and ready for anything. They ran onto the field knowing that they had a great chance of winning medals which made them really eager to go out and win. This match was time for Adam Browne Corbett to shine which he certainly did. Every time he had an opportunity to score he did resulting in him scoring 3-1 and showing great talent. Jack Ryan again stood up to the challenge and scored 1-1. Mikey Delaney , James Laffey and Mantvis Vasiliauskas also put themselves on the scoring sheet, all getting points. Dawid Wojcik stepped into goal for this game and again showed how talented he was, both on the field and in the goal. As a result of winning all their games, the boys received 8 points allowing them to take the Roinn B1 Under 11 shield back to school with pride. Well done boys! Thanks to everybody in Leahy Park for allowing us to use the field and to the other teams and their teachers for great games.
