Dear Parents/Guardians,
There was much to be hopeful about this week with the Junior boys returning to school and some beautiful Spring days. It’s wonderful to see the boys back and we hope the Senior boys will join them shortly. A sincere thank you to all the school staff for supporting home learning throughout the term in such a positive, consistent and encouraging manner, ensuring the best possible education for our boys.
St Patrick’s Week Virtual 5K
Since early January the Parent Association has been active promoting the Couch to 5K programme. As a grand finale, we are launching a St Patrick’s Week Virtual 5K (all details on the poster attached). We are inviting you to celebrate St Patrick’s Day by taking part in a 5K walk, jog or run with your family (dressed in green if you wish!) on any day between 17th and 24th March. Record your time and send it to us at pa@cashelbns.ie for a chance to win a spot prize. Share your story and send us any photos taken before, during or after your Virtual 5K.

Fundraiser for Accelerated Reading Programme
Accelerated Reader is a web-based intervention, produced by Renaissance Learning
Company. It is a whole-group programme for managing and monitoring reading, and it aims to foster the habit of independent reading among primary and younger secondary pupils. The software initially screens pupils and identifies their reading levels and then suggests books that match their reading level and interests. A system of computerised quizzes on the books is used to monitor and reward reading, by allocating ‘points’.
Please join us by taking part in this Virtual 5K to celebrate St Patrick’s Day and, if you can, help us raise funds for the Accelerated Reading Programme, which will support our boys to read independently - a gift for life.
