Squashee Faces Day
Junior Entrepreneur Project At the start of January 2014, 6th class at St John the Baptist Boys National School began a project called the Junior Entrepreneur Programme. Ms O’Farrell, 6th class teacher, explained the programme to the class and split them up into groups. Each group had to come up with an idea. A few weeks later they invited the Dragons into see our ideas. The Dragons were Mr Will Ryan, Mr William Halley, Mrs Sharon Perdue and Mr Sean Laffey. Each group tried to persuade the Dragons to pick their idea. The Dragons had very tough questions for each group. The winning idea was Squashee Faces. The next step of the project was to invite a business visitor come into the class. Úna O’Dwyer from Fine Foods Cashel visited the boys. Úna gave them advice on how to promote their business. The J.E.P co-ordinator, Maeve Toohey visited the class also and they had questions and a power point presentation ready for her. The Dragons were then invited back and asked to invest in the improved product. Mr Ryan, Principal, invested in the project and the 6th class have been very busy making, promoting and selling Squashee Faces. All the bills have been paid and the class are currently in profit. The culmination of all their hard work was a showcase day for the school and parents which took place on Tuesday, April 8th. Congratulations to Ms O’ Farrell, Mrs Karen Butler SNA, and all the boys in 6th class for their initiative and dedication to the project.
