Sports Day Schedule of Events

Our annual sports day, usually one of the highlights of the school year, takes place tomorrow from 9.30am weather permitting.  Parents welcome to come join us.  Please note that the infant classes will finish at 2pm as usual.  Here is the schedule of events. Sports Day Schedule 2014  13 June 2014 (weather permitting) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 9.20-9.50 Fancy Dress in the Halla (Boys come to school dressed for fancy dress) – Theme is “The World Cup” --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------9.50-10.05 Up to classroom to change for sports day --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------10.15-11.00     Sprints          Sack Race  Egg and Spoon              Penalty Shoot Out (4 goals for junior classes, 2 goals for senior classes) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------11.00-11.30 – SOS (Teachers/Parents/Helpers in Halla for tea) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 11.30-12.15    Sprints          Sack Race  Egg and Spoon              Penalty Shoot Out (4 goals for junior classes, 2 goals for senior classes) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------     12.15-12.45 Results of the Fancy Dress are announced (1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 12.45-1.30 Lunch and Ice-Cream -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.30-2.00pm – Long Race Finals -         Stations with Juniors and Seniors from approx. 1.20-2pm Long Race Finals (Note:  2 heats, five from each heat qualify for the final.  To be run before the Sports Day) ½ lap – JI and SI                     1 lap – 1^st and 2^nd class 2 laps – 3^rd and 4^th class        3 laps - 5^th and 6^th class -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2pm – Junior and Senior Infants to be collected -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2pm - Relay Race (1^st to 6^th to participate) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.30pm *Tug O’ War (8 per team – 2 from 3^rd, 4^th, 5^th & 6th) First and Second to stations or watch tug o’ war

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3pm - Winners announced but medal ceremony/certificates on Monday. Pupils are dismissed from their classrooms.
