SPORTS DAY REMINDERS FRIDAY 29 MAY
- YOUR BOY CAN WEAR HIS T-SHIRT AND SHORTS UNDER HIS SCHOOL TRACKSUIT.
- BRING A BOTTLE OF WATER. WE CAN LABEL THIS BOTTLE AND IT CAN REFILLED DURING THE DAY AT THE WATER STATION. NO CAPRI SUN, JUICE CARTONS ETC
- PUT SUNSCREEN ON BEFORE COMING TO SCHOOL.
- FANCY DRESS (“Summer time in Ireland”) IS FIRST THING IN THE MORNING. IF PARTICIPATING, MAKE SURE HE COMES TO SCHOOL IN FANCY DRESS.
- WEARING A HAT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR ALL AGE GROUPS.
- A HEALTHY PACKED LUNCH AS NORMAL.
- YOUR BOY CAN BRING HIS PENCIL CASE IN HIS BAG AND A COPY. IF THE WEATHER LOOKS GOOD, THERE IS NO NEED FOR HIM TO BRING BOOKS.
1st to 6th CLASSES FINISH AT 3PM. INFANT CLASSES FINISH AT 2pm. THE CHILDREN WILL BE DISMISSED FROM THEIR CLASSROOM.
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE A CHILD AWAY WITHOUT TELLING THE TEACHER AS WE WILL BE TAKING A ROLL CALL AT THE END OF THE DAY.

SESSION ONE
10.00-11.00 Sprints Sack Race Egg and Spoon Penalty Shoot Out (4 goals for junior classes, 2 goals for senior classes)

ALL BOYS/CLASSES ARE TO WAIT IN THE JUNIOR YARD (lined up in their class) for FANCY DRESS RESULTS ANNOUNCEMENT. NOBODY TO GO IN EARLY FROM SESSION TWO
12.30-12.45 Results of the Fancy Dress are announced (1st, 2nd and 3rd)

Lunch and Ice-Cream
ALL BOYS MUST STAY IN THEIR CLASSROOMS DURING LUNCH AND AWAIT THEIR TEACHERS’ INSTRUCTIONS.
Note: At 1.30pm, each class teacher should send the long race participants from their class (max 10) near the long race start line with a helper to ensure smooth running of this event.

(All non-participating boys to watch the long races along the side of the track)
1.30-2.00pm – Long Race Finals
- Stations with Juniors and Seniors from approx. 1.20-2pm
Long Race Finals (Note: 2 heats, five from each heat qualify for the final. To be run before the Sports Day)
1 lap – JI and SI 2 lap – 1st and 2nd class
3 laps – 3rd and 4th class 4 laps - 5th and 6th class
Points for long race
1st – 10, 2nd – 6 and 3rd -4

SESSION FOUR
(10 lanes of obstacles to be set up at lunchtime. Mr Molloy to organise)
2pm – Team Obstacle Race (1st to 6th to participate)

SESSION FIVE
(All non-participating boys to watch the tug of war)
2.30pm *Tug O’ War (8 per team – 2 from 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th)
Best of three pulls between the five pairs. 10 points for the winning team.

3pm - Winners announced but medal ceremony/certificates on Monday.
Pupils are dismissed from their classrooms.
Scoring system
Morning Events (Session 1 and 2) – 1st place (5 points), 2nd place (3 points), 3rd place (2 points)
Long Race (Session Three) 10 points for first home in each class, 6 points for 2nd and 4 points for 3rd place.
Team Obstacle Race (Session Four) 20 points for 1st team, 12 points for 2nd team and 8 points for 3rd team.
Tug O’ War (Session Five) 10 points for the winning team in each of the five contests.
