I received two emails today in relation to the Spelling Bee. I am very disappointed that Conor cannot represent his school in the County Tipperary County Final which was due to take place today. Conor would have been a fantastic representative and beat a lot of competition in the school finals to emerge a victor. I hope that Conor is still learning his spellings at home!

I note from my diary that today was meant to be the final of the Spellling Bee. It's such a pity that you won't get a chance to represent the school in the county final, but such is life. You did brilliantly to get that far in the first place.
I will be sending three spellings to your Mum over the next while. She has to ask you the spellings. If you get all three right, you'll get a tenner from me when I next see you, if you get two you'll get a fiver and if you get one right you'll get €2. If you get none right, you get nothing. The stakes are high. First spelling coming soon!

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions in place in Ireland, Eason has made the decision to cancel the remainder of the Eason Spelling Bee 2020, which was due to take place in schools across Ireland throughout April, May and June. The health and safety of participants, supporters and staff is our primary concern so the decision to cancel was unfortunately unavoidable.
Eason would like to take this opportunity to thank all the schools that registered to take part in the 10th Year of the Eason Spelling Bee, with a special mention to the students who already participated in County Spelling Bee Finals in Roscommon, Leitrim, Sligo, Kilkenny, Carlow, Laois, Offaly, Westmeath, Longford and Kildare.
Eason really appreciate your kind offer to host the competition and hope there will be an opportunity to do so next year. We would like to thank you again for your support of this initiative and we look forward to welcoming students from all over Ireland back for the Eason Spelling Bee in 2021.
