QUICK UPDATE FOR PARENTS - MONDAY 15 MARCH 2021

15th Mar 2021

15 March 2021

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Good morning!  All back to school this morning & lots of happy faces!  Mums & Dads seemed particularly pleased & I wouldn’t blame ye! It has been a long road.  Hope some of you can put the feet up for an hour or two today and enjoy a quiet tea/coffee.

Traffic was obviously busier, but it still flowed quite well.  The extended temporary car park certainly helps.  Thank you for your cooperation with drop & go, for not congregating around the school gates and for wearing masks.  We all have to play our part in keeping our schools open.

3rd to 6th class parents, if you’ve not filled out the return to school parental declaration form for your son(s), please do so immediately by clicking on the following link:   https://forms.gle/Lz7TShdAPnHgyupZ8

It’s clear that many of the boys have grown quite a lot over the past few months.  Do your best with the uniform but don’t stress about it either.  Mix and match is fine for now.  It’s not something that the staff and I will be focussing on as there are much more important things right now.

Speaking of uniforms, the girls’ and boys’ school are encouraging our pupils to wear green tomorrow Tuesday as part of our St Patrick’s Day celebrations.  Your son doesn't have to wear green, of course, but any splash of green your son may like to wear will add to the sense of occasion.

Note that Wednesday remains a public holiday and there is no school.

Finally, the Parent Association has remained very active during lockdown.  We all enjoyed the Jerusalema Challenge, the Mother’s Day Virtual Concert & many of you have participated in its Couch to 5k Challenge.  This challenge reaches its climax from Weds onwards with the Virtual 5k.  All details on the website.  This is also a fundraiser for our new Accelerated Reading Programme which is an expensive programme designed to encourage more and more boys to read independently for enjoyment.

If you’d like and can contribute to this very worthwhile project, please click on the GoFundMe page linked here:  http://bit.ly/38IoUP0  The PA has raised €455 to date and has a target of €2000.  All support very gratefully received.

Thanks everyone, it’s mighty to have a full house again.

Le meas,

Will Ryan
