Our Greek Goddess Julie!
by Mr Ryan
We are honoured and delighted to have Julie Gyftoula, a primary school teacher and deputy principal, from Athens with us all this week.
Julie is visiting St John the Baptist BNS as part of the Erasmus + programme (the successor of Comenius).
We hope that she feels very welcome here. She certainly is a big hit with both staff and pupils alike as she is a very generous person and has brought us many gifts and used her culinary skills to make treats for us at breaktime.
Julie has had the opportunity to visit many of the classrooms already and has remarked to me how welcoming and engaging our boys are. This is really lovely to hear.
She has taught lessons to the older boys on "A Day At The Greek School" and "A Journey To Greece".
Today, when I visited 5th class, she was writing down the boys' names using the Greek alphabet.
Julie is with us until Friday when she will give a presentation to the whole school during our final assembly of the term.
