Flower Club Latest Updates
Flower Club Our daffodils are in full bloom by now. Our school looks more cheerful and brighter on the outside. We are now planning ahead for our summer flowers. The ground is being prepared at the moment. The weather is too cold yet to plant our summer bedding plants. Summer bedding flowers are not native to Ireland. There original habitat is always warmer climates where they can flourish all year. Irelandcan still be cold and frosty right up to April / May, so we don t risk planting before then so as to avoid plants being killed by low temperature. The following plants we think will provide great colour and can be purchased at any local garden centre. Gladiolus – is an easy to grow flower that produce tall spikes of large blossoms in a rainbow of colours. Petunia – are one of the most popular bedding flowers. They are bright and lively bloom from late spring until frost and scent the air. (South African Origin) Begonias – are also very popular, they produce beautiful double flowers that last all summer and can be grown in pots We hope to start planting our summer flowers after our Easter holidays.
