First Week Back after Easter holidays - Green Flag, Hurling, Tennis!
Welcome back to everybody after their Easter holidays. What brilliant weather we had! Unfortunately, it hasn't been so good since our return to school. However, this has not dampened the enthusiasm of the boys who have returned to school ready for action! Green Schools We received a letter during the week confirming that our application for the renewal of our International Green Flag has been successful. Well done to everybody and especially Ms Mullins and all in the Green Schools Committtee for their commitment to this project. The flag will be presented to our school at the Green Schools National Award Ceremony on the 26 May in Hotel Kilkenny, Kilkenny. Two boys from the committee and Ms Mullins will go along on the day to collect the flag on our behalf. Hurling Our u13 hurlers overcame St Colmcille's, Templemore in the group stages of the Cumann na mBunscol competition. Played in Holycross, the boys' workrate was excellent and we overcame the boys in green on a scoreline of 5-8 to 3-4 in what was a very competitive game. Wearing their new school jerseys sponsored by O' Dwyers Fashions, this was a solid perfomance but one which leaves us with plenty to work on before our next outing. Tennis Our 'A' Tennis team continue to show good form in the Munster Schools Championship and we have qualified for the next round of matches. The team of Colin Ryan, Alex Marshall, Michael O' Meara and Daniel Wade are doing very well, reflecting the strength of underage tennis in the town and the huge work being done in Larkspur Park. Well done to all involved.
