Fifth Visit LIT Thurles For Science Show
By Kuba Koncewicz and Zander Guilfoyle
On the 12th of February 5th class went to L.I.T for a science show. Paul was the lecturer. He taught us about gravity, forces and science experiments. A lot of other schools attended the show. He picked people from other schools to be assistants. One of the experiments was a hover board and someone was on it. Conor McCabe from our class and another boy got picked for an experiment including two books and a long rope. The pages were folded together and they had to pull it apart (they did not succeed). There was also an experiment including a launcher and a rugby ball. He put the rugby ball in the launcher and added a mystery spray. He sprayed the spray and then started shaking the launcher. Suddenly the rugby ball shot out of the launcher and hit the door at the other side of the room. The next experiment was a piece of paper and sellotape made into a cylinder. There was a small launcher he put the cylinder into the launcher. When he fired the cylinder it went flying across the room. The last experiment involved a bottle with water in it and a pump was connected to the bottle. There was a little plastic man in a cup at the top of the bottle. He pumped air into the bottle and it flew into the ceiling and Paul grabbed the plastic man in midair. 5th class really enjoyed the trip. We learnt a lot about gravity and forces.
