Draughts in Fourth Class
Draughts
By Evan Ryan
On the 17.12.18 4thand 4thclass learned how to play draughts. We played a two-against-two game. It was Jason and I vs Nestor and Kevin. A man called John was our teacher for it. One rule was that you cannot go on the white squares on the board.
In the game, Nestor and Kevin won but both teams played well. Well done to the boys.
After Christmas there will be a draughts club and I think I will join it. Thanks to John for coming. It was my first time playing and I enjoyed the day.

On the 17/12/18 John came to our school and showed us how to play draughts. He said the official colours of draughts pieces are red and white and he explained the rules.
First he told us some quick tactics and we got started. It was Evan and I vs Kevin and Nestor. We were reds and they were white.
At the end, John gave us some more tactics. After that we left the hall and went to our classrooms. I really enjoyed draughts and I hope to play it again.

Today we went to the hall to play draughts. John explained the rules of the game. I was with Cristian and my opponents were Rihards and a 5thclass boy. The opposing team captured a lot of our men and mid-game we were outnumbered so we lost the first game. We only had a few more minutes left but in the second game we were bound to win. Then we tidied up and left the hall. That was my experience playing draughts.
