County Champions!!

17th Nov 2010
County Champions!!

Congratulations to our u13 gaelic footballers who were crowned 'Roinn C' Cumann na mBunscol champions on Friday last, the 12th of November. Played in wintery but dry conditions in the excellent Boherlahan pitch, a huge crowd turned out to witness a classic encounter between two very committed and skilful sides. The final scoreline of 1-3 to 0-1 doesn't do justice to what was a brilliant game of football where tackling, blocking and bravery were to the fore. Played at a frantic pace, a Patrick Fahy shot that was deflected into the goal by the Loughmore defence proved to be the difference between the two sides. On balance, Cashel were slightly the better team but poor shooting could have cost them dearly.  Loughmore pressed very hard towards the end and could have snatched it were it not for some superb goalkeeping by Adam Skeffington. Captain, Conn Bonnar accepted the plaque on behalf of the St John the Baptist Boys.  He thanked his teachers and coaches, the GAA club, the referree and the supporters before finishing with the customary three cheers for the Loughmore boys. Jimmy Sweeney, referee and Loughmore native, complimented both sides on the terrific fare that they served up and remarked how clean the game was despite the fierce commitment of both teams. Well done to everyone involved!
