Cashel U13s join the U11s in County Final
DYLAN BYRNES/JAK HAYS Friday 19thOctober was finally here - Gaelic football semi final day, Cashel v Gaelscoil Durlas! We all left the school to go on the bus to Thurles at 11.15 a.m. We were determined to win this important game. We were all quiet on the bus, concentrating on the game. After a while, we were in the dressing room getting ready for the match. We were straight into the game with Jak Hays scoring the first point. This was followed by a goal from Tommy Fitzgerald. Thurles then scored 2-2. After the first half the score was 2-2 1-1 in favour of the Gaelscoil. Cashel weren’t giving up, but neither were the Gaelscoil. So, the second half whistle went and the Cashel boys were hungry for a win. Off they went and they put up a good fight – they didn’t let anything in and played really well. Ten minutes to go and the boys were determined to win the game; you could see it in their faces. Gaelscoil Durlas tried to go for a goal but all the backs came out and tackled as if there was no tomorrow. Five minutes to go and the boys were encouraging each other, so much so that we scored a goal. Everyone went crazy! Then the score was Cashel 5-3 Durlas Óg 3-4. Cashel were delighted. After the match, we happily headed back to Cashel.
