A Fantastic Show!
It was called ‘A Triumph of All Sorts’ and it was a success in every way. The boys of Fifth & Sixth classes revelled in a variety of parts, from the high profile like Clarke, Pearse and Connolly to the poor boy playing hoops in a Dublin tenement. They were a motley crew some dressed like real soldiers but the vast number imaginatively outfitted in realistic 1916 garb.
We got marches, speeches, shooting with a fine cacophony of sounds, deaths and woundings, plenty of singing and a wedding with a fine rendering of ‘Grace’ at the end. And, to make sure we understood it was re-enacting real events, we had
flashes of contemporary Pathe footage projected on screen. Congratulations to all involved in this powerful drama especially teachers Ms Jennie O Farrell and Mrs Brid Callanan.
