6th class Confirmation Retreat
By Ciarán Davern The boys in sixth class went on a retreat with Father Christy, Miss Power, Miss Anne and Mr O' Sullivan. We left the school at half nine. We got a bus to Kilcommon and that took about one hour. When we reached Kilcommon we were greeted in the church by the parish priest. Then Father Christy took us on a tour of the place. We saw the garden, the small stream, the Celtic House and a sculpture of Jesus. Then we went inside a big hall and had lunch. We were given a lot of biscuits. Father Christy said that ‘Today is an allowance, so if you gave up chocolate you can have it today’. Then we went into the Celtic House and heard the story of the Prodigal Son, mass and the beatitudes. Father Christy had a cross made especially for us. It had holes to show the suffering we have had or have dealt with. After that we went home. We got back just as school was over. Unfortunately I still missed the bus. It was a great day even though the weather wasn’t great. Here are some pictures from the day!
