Third and Fourth Go See ‘Oliver' in Golden Hall

29th Jan 2013

By Ben White Rang 4 On the 18th of January, we set off at ten thirty in the morning to the Golden/Thomastown schools’ production of Oliver. On the bus we talked and played rock paper scissors. When we arrived we went into the hall and took our seats and waited for the show to start. Then when the show started it opened up in an orphanage where the children were very hungry and sad because they have no mother or father. The main character of the show is Oliver. He escapes from the orphanage and makes his way to London. Here he meets up with a boy called Dodger and Fagan and they teach him to be a pick pocket. He also meets a lady called Nancy and her nasty boyfriend Bill Sykes. The boys go out to pick a pocket or two. Then it was half time and we all had to wait for the show to start again. In the second half, Oliver gets caught taking a wallet from an old man. The old man thinks Oliver reminds him of his daughter and he takes him back to his house and is very kind to him. He gets a doctor to give him a check up in case there is something wrong with him. He asks Oliver to bring books to the library but Nancy takes him back to Fagan. The books that Oliver had Fagan took and the one pound he had Bill took that. Nancy goes to visit the old man and tells him to meet her at the London Bridge and she will bring Oliver too so the old man can take him back to his house to live with him. But then Bill gets there before the old man does and kills Nancy and takes Oliver. The police go out to find Bill and they do and they shot him. Then they go and look for Fagan and at the end Fagan has to leave London and Oliver stays with the old man who is his granddad. I loved all the songs in this show and my favourite one was pick a pocket or two and I loved when we all clapped along too. I think I better think it out again when Fagan was singing it. This was a great show and I wish we could do this in our school next
